Wollacott and Morton star

City’s James Morton and Jojo Wollacott had evenings to remember for Forest Green Rovers as they beat Coventry City in a Trophy penalty shootout.

Midfielder Morton, who has recently signed a new four-year deal at BS3, took over the captaincy from the injured Liam Shephard after 18 minutes and scored in the spot-kick thriller following the 0-0 stalemate.

And fellow loanee Wollacott marked his return to green by saving a Kyle McFadzean penalty as FGR claimed an extra point at The New Lawn in their Group D match.

Matty Taylor scored Oxford United’s opener in the penalty shoot-out defeat to Portsmouth (2-2 in normal time)

Jonny Smith played a full 90 in the 3-0 defeat to Accrington Stanley while George Nurse also had a full game and man-of-the match display for Newport County in the 2-0 defeat to Exeter City.

Louis Britton took his Yate Town tally to four goals in four games with a brace in the 2-1 win over Hartley Wintney which also saw Bradley Webb play a full 90 minutes.
