Premier League Primary Stars
Premier League Primary Stars is a fantastic initiative across England and Wales that uses the appeal of professional football clubs to inspire children.
Here at Bristol City Community Trust we aim to work in primary schools across Bristol and the surrounding areas to help them maximise their sporting and academic potential.
We aim to engage all primary schools in the city by either delivering 12 week programmes of classroom support and PE lessons, or by signposting them towards the PLPS website, which provides huge amounts of free resources to support learning in Maths, English, Physical Education and much much more.
The Premier League Primary Stars programme works on the following values:
- Be Ambitious
- Be Connected
- Be Fair
- Be Inspiring
By promoting these and following through with our mission to make a positive difference for all through sport and education, we are determined to improve children’s self-esteem and confidence, as well as their sporting achievement.
As well as this, the programme is designed to upskill teachers and improves their ability to teach a quality PE lesson, which can often be an area of concern for primary school teachers. By discussing our sessions, sharing ideas and encouraging them to deliver lessons under our supervision, Bristol City Community Trust aims to create the most skilled primary school PE teachers in the country.
So far this year we have worked with 8 different schools, helped 20 different teachers and had a positive impact on hundreds of children. On top of this we have delivered assemblies with powerful messages on personal, social, health and economic topics, we have run tournaments in conjunction with Ashton Park School Sports Partnership, provided player appearances and hosted stadium visits for the lucky schools that we work with.
We look forward to growing the project in future years and having a positive impact on children across Bristol and the surrounding areas.
